Gregor Ravnik

Longtime resident of Ankaran, Gregor Ravnik, has established himself in recent years as one of the most versatile and promising solo singers in the region, with a distinctive expression at the intersection of pop and opera music. His love for music has been with him since early childhood, and his academic journey led him to attend a music academy, where he specialized in opera singing.  

Gregor has not remained faithful only to opera—he expanded his artistic expression into pop music, creating a unique connection between two different worlds. His first pop album, Med nama (Between Us), which marked a significant breakthrough in his career, took him on a tour with an eight-piece band, where he shares his unique musical style—combining classical training, contemporary sensitivity, and an authentic feel for interpretation.  

Two years ago, when we asked him for the local newspaper Amfora about his memories of Ankaran, he replied that “the hometown is always the closest to you, that’s where you grew up. Just looking at the sea gives me energy and motivation for creation. Sometimes, we take for granted the proximity of the sea, as we grew up with it, but the fact that you can enjoy a coffee right by the sea anytime is a privilege not everyone has, and we locals should appreciate it more.”
